Careful - the wind might change
Psychologists tell us that it is human nature to borrow behaviour patterns from people who influence us, such as our parents.
And now researchers in the UK tell us that the magic age is 32. That's when women start behaving like their mothers.
A poll of 1000 British adults which looked at the behaviour of people that is passed down through the generations revealed the maternal habits adopted by daughters ranged from pithy sayings to grocery buying habits, choice of television programs, things to worry about and social opinions.
It can even lead to generational throwback, such as the modern woman who started telling her kids, "Don't make a face like that, because if the wind changes, you'll stay like it." Where did she get this child discipline strategy from? Her mother, who probably got it from her mother.
The British poll found two-thirds of women fell victim to the copy-mum syndrome. The poll found men did it too, but only about one-third of them.
At least, that's how many admitted it. Personally, I have never done this. I must make up my own mind about things, as my mum used to say.
