When I was young, when I thought I knew a lot, before I grew old and wise, and discovered I knew little, I heard grandparent-type people regretting how things had changed.
I swore I would never do that because there is no point in complaining, right?
Oh dammit ... have you noticed how lists of names these days are sorted alphabetically by first name rather than family name? The phone extension list in the office, the address book in my email client - they all get sorted from Aaron to Zak instead of from Abbott to Zeus.
How do I find people whose first names are unknown to me? It may be alright if you are Nabakov's character Humbert Humbert or perhaps that old British singer, Herman Hermit, but I find it disorienting.
I think this is out of order. The people who did this don't know their place.

For my women friends, the listing by last names became quite difficult. Some changed their names when they got married and changed again when they weren't married anymore. Then they would change them again when they once again got married.
God, my address book was messy.
Now everyone seems to just call themselves by their first names. That gets rather frustrating too especially when you get a message from Peter from such-and-such and when you call back there are six Peters!
Life's just one big headache!
