Happy birthday Rick Schoff

When I was about 10, my favourite number was 10. My favourite football team was Sturt and my favourite player was Rick Schoff. I called him Ricky. He wore number 10.
Around this time I got a football card for Rick Schoff. On the front was a picture of a Germanic blond of central defender proportions, and on the back were personal details. That's when I discovered that his birthday is October 10.
And every tenth of the tenth in the decades since I have remembered those good and innocent times, and quietly said, "Happy birthday Ricky Schoff".
