I like to think of myself as a writer. That is nice - artistically gratifying - but it doesn't pay the bills, so most of the time I have to think of myself as an editor.
What I really am, however, is a journalist, with a couple of decades of on-the-job honing of the skills and instincts required to gather, prepare and present newsworthy material.
For years I have wanted to use my skills to work for myself, but it has been difficult. I can't afford to buy a newspaper publishing company, and freelance editing is less than lucrative.
Then one day I had a grand idea.
